Reveal of Monika Grzymala’s Site Specific Sculpture at Uppsala Science Park

On February 7th 2018, Monika Grzymala’s site specific art project Helix (Raumzeichnung* Uppsala) will be revealed for the very first time at Uppsala Science Park in Sweden.
Installation artist Monika Grzymala and her team have created the sculpture especially for the opening of the new building. This space integrated art work with a height of 24,5 m is meandering from the floor to glass roof in the Atrium at Hubben. Now co-existing with the architecure of the building Helix (Raumzeichnung Uppsala) is a living document and a catalyst to generate dynamic processes and encounters between people of all cultures and professions at this hub of knowledge.
The organic formation right in the heart of the building contemplates and reflects on scientific vision of the material of the world and wonder of life. As a space integrated art work with total 24,5 meters height it is meandering to the glass roof of the Atrium by taking root in the ground like a twining plant or liquefied idea of human being. In consultation with Vasakronan, AM Public and White Arkitekter the project started in 2017, was made in Germany, then transported to Uppsala and assembled on site in early 2018.
Helix (Raumzeichnung Uppsala) is crafted with holistic approach of site specific art for Hubben’s meaning as a place for encounter between man and technology. While spiriling up to the endless skies it also embraces the transitory, unpredictable and expansionary movement of matter in our world.
