New public sculpture by Dodda Maggý
August 26, 2026
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the work Elegy by Dodda Maggý will be inaugurated in a newly built public park called Lyrikparken in Uppsala, Sweden. The work is a sound sculpture and video artwork that will remain permanently in the public space.

Elegy draws on the history of the Ulleråker district, which was home to Sweden’s first psychiatric hospital. Through the work, Dodda Maggý seeks to honor the memory of the people who lived and died in Ulleråker.

The work consists of a circular wooden bench that functions as a speaker, playing a musical composition written for bass flute, flute, and piccolo. Visitors can also experience a video artwork set in nature through augmented reality on a smart device.
