
Iceland University of the Arts appoints Sigurður Guðjónsson as Professor

The Fine Art Department at the Iceland University of the Arts has announced the appointment of Sigurður Guðjónsson as Professor.
Known for his time-based media works, Guðjónsson focuses his research particularly on the function of various technical equipment, where the viewer is lured into a world of soothing repetition, rhythm, and order.
Sigurður Guðjónsson represented Iceland at the 59th Venice Biennale 2022. He was awarded the Icelandic Art Prize for Visual Artist of the Year in 2018 for his exhibition Inlight.
Sigurður has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since 2004. He studied at the Iceland University of the Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His works are included in public and private collections.
