Upcoming Exhibition
BERG Contemporary: 10 Years
June 6 - August 29 2026
BERG Contemporary celebrates its 10th anniversary with a joint exhibition of the gallery's artists and several of its recurring guests. Most of the works are new, and many of them have been created especially for this occasion. The emphasis remains on creating a coherent exhibition while highlighting the individual characteristics of each artist. It goes without saying that the intention here is not to present each artist in their entirety. They are complex and multifaceted, sharing the common denominator of successful careers, albeit of varying lengths.
The exhibition can rather be seen as a simultaneous snapshot of each artist and the gallery.
With a milestone such as this comes the ample opportunity to look back down the road. Four great members of our group have passed, Bjarni H. Þórarinsson, Björn Roth, Goddur, and Woody Vasulka. They are to be missed, while we bid them farewell and thank them for their collaboration. Many dear memories come to mind, and there is a lot to be grateful for over the past decade since the first exhibition, by Finnbogi Pétursson, opened in March 2016.
But most artists prefer to look ahead and spend time thinking about their next challenges and projects. I know from experience that BERG's artists will continue to venture forward, work on their art, and surprise themselves and others along the way, and I'm excited to accompany them into the future.
